The CDC this morning criticized the move calling it “substantial disappointment”. The airline had previously been leaving middle seats open for social distancing measures.
Dr. Fauci spoke yesterday on his fears that the US could soon be seeing coronavirus cases surge from 40,000 cases per day to 100,000 cases per day if the US does not act quickly enough.
Other major airlines such as Delta, Southwest and many more have all committed to leaving the middle seat open for now to continue practice social distancing.
We’ve reached out to American Airlines for comment and have not heard back as of publication time.
