Halyna Hutchins who was the cinematographer for a movie called “Rust” filming in Santa Fe, NM was shot and killed yesterday afternoon on set. The incident took place yesterday afternoon around 2pm at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a popular western town back lot and tourist attraction in the area.
Actor Alec Baldwin is accused of shooting Hutchins along with the the film’s director on accident. Baldwin allegedly had been a given a prop gun for a scene and had no idea that it was a “hot gun”. He told authorities over and over again that in all of his years in acting he had never been given a loaded hand gun before.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Hutchins was part of the conservatorship program at The American Film Institue (AFI).
The young cinematographer had photographed several award winning short films and within that last couple of years had just embarked on her feature film career, according to her IMDb.
She posted this photo from the set on her Instagram, just earlier this month.
